Your first Ghana visit, with room to enjoy it.

For a first visit to Ghana, choose a manageable route, arrange your arrival and leave time between experiences. Accra and the Central Region coast make a useful introduction; add the Eastern Region, Ashanti, Volta or the north when your available days support the extra travel. Start with your interests and pace, then choose your transport and accommodation together.

Where should a first-time visitor start?

Accra offers an introduction to the capital's history, contemporary culture, markets and food. Cape Coast and Elmina lie west of Accra on the Central Region coast, while Kakum National Park is inland from Cape Coast. These places can form a coherent route without trying to cross the whole country. A coastal overnight stay gives heritage visits more breathing room than repeated returns to Accra.

Choose a different emphasis if nature or craft is your main interest. Aburi and the Eastern Region offer a different landscape from the coast. Kumasi and nearby craft communities suit an Ashanti-focused stay; Mole National Park belongs in a northern itinerary. Do not treat these as nearby stops on one short city outing.

How should I arrange the airport arrival and first night?

Share your flight number, landing date, passenger count and luggage with your transfer provider. Agree the meeting point, contact method, waiting arrangements and final destination in writing. Allow for immigration, baggage collection and road traffic rather than booking a timed attraction immediately after landing. A late arrival is usually better followed by a quiet first evening.

Choose your base around the activities you actually want. A central Accra stay and a residential base in Bortianor serve different plans. Casa Maite's owned studios are in Ayalolo Top, Bortianor, within driving distance of Kokrobite; they are not beachfront or in central Accra. Check the location, amenities and travel requirements of each partner property separately.

What should I check before travelling?

Confirm passport, visa and entry requirements for your nationality and circumstances with Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghanaian diplomatic mission handling your application. Consult a qualified travel-health professional about your itinerary, medical needs and any vaccination documentation. Check the relevant official advice again before departure; a tour booking does not establish your eligibility to enter Ghana.

Plan for heat, rain and time outdoors with comfortable footwear, sun protection and a light layer for changing conditions. Tell your organiser about mobility needs, dietary requirements, child seats and luggage before the vehicle is allocated. Ask about realistic driving days, rest stops and access at each site rather than relying only on distances on a map.

How do I turn a plan into a confirmed booking?

Send your dates, group size, arrival details, interests and preferred pace. Casa Maite tours and partner stays begin with a request; the team confirms arrangements and a final quote before payment. Every confirmed Casa Maite tour includes its private vehicle and driver, route fuel, guide and mandatory tour fees for the stops listed in the agreed itinerary. Ask for any accommodation, meals, flights or optional activities to be specified in the quote.

Owned studios follow a different route: use the live stay calendar and direct checkout when your selected nights are available. Availability is checked again before payment. Keep the agreed itinerary, payment reference, cancellation terms and local contact together so that everyone in your party knows what has been booked.

Can I see all of Ghana in one week?

A week is better used for a focused route than the whole country. Accra and the Central Region coast are a useful first combination. Add distant regions only when you can allow the extra transport and overnight stays.

Are Casa Maite studios on the beach?

No. The owned studios are in Ayalolo Top, Bortianor, a residential area within driving distance of Kokrobite. Check each stay listing for its exact location and facilities.

Is submitting a tour request a confirmed reservation?

No. The team confirms the itinerary, availability, inclusions and final quote before payment. Owned studio nights can use live availability and direct checkout when available.
